WATCH: The Ford F-150 Raptor’s Trail Control

Ford Motor Company’s off-road variant of cruise control is available on the new Ford F-150 Raptor to help drivers better navigate the toughest of terrain.

The technology, known as trail control, mimics many of the characteristics of traditional cruise control but is designed specifically for off-roading. The system controls throttle and braking, allowing drivers to focus solely on steering through rough ground.

It will be available on the Ford F-150 Raptor for the first time on the 2019 model.

The trail control technology can be used at any speed between 1 mph and 20 mph, according to Ford. The company also says it is the only pickup on the market that allows the driver to use trailer control in all 4x4 modes.

“The new feature can help overcome steep obstacles by automatically directing torque to each wheel then braking to smoothly bring the truck down on the other side. It also can help in digging the truck out if it happens to get stuck in extreme sand,” Ford said in a statement.

Take a look at how trail control helped power this Raptor through some extreme terrain. You’ll watch this GIF in awe over and over and over again.
