Ford Motor Company Wins 3 Awards At 2018 SEMA

Ford Motor Company won three Vehicle of the Year awards at this year’s Specialty Equipment Market Association show, which the company says puts on full display the popularity that Ford vehicles have in the aftermarket.

The Ford F-Series continued to dominate the competition, winning SEMA’s Truck of the Year honors for the eighth time in the award’s 9-year history. The Ford Mustang further cemented its status as America’s most popular sports car, winning the show’s Car of the Year Award. The Ford Focus also made an impact in the sport compact segment, winning Sport Compact of the Year.

The 2018 SEMA show showcased a number of customized Ford vehicles, ranging from the award-winning Mustang and F-Series, to the highly-anticipated Ford Ranger.

Ford Performance Global Director Hermann Salenbauch said Ford’s performance at the event is a testament to the company’s ability to develop best-selling models that are also suitable for customization.

“We are honored that SEMA Show exhibitors have bestowed Ford with these prestigious awards,” Salenbauch said. “We make a point of embracing the aftermarket and appreciate this endorsement from the SEMA community as we strive to keep our best-selling nameplates among the most customized vehicles around the world.”

The F-Series wasn’t the only Ford line that has seen success at SEMA in the past. The Mustang’s Car of the Year award marked the sixth time the legendary pony car has won at SEMA. This year was the fourth time the Mustang has won Car of the Year at the annual auto show; it has also won Sports Coupe of the Year on two occasions.

To add to the company’s success, Ford had the largest presence of any automaker at the show, with over 50 vehicles on display. SEMA President and CEO Chris Kersting said that Ford vehicles offer endless opportunities for expression, as seen at this year’s SEMA show.

“Ford vehicles serve as great platforms for personalization, evident by the three SEMA Awards announced today,” Kersting said. “Regardless of whether drivers are choosing a car, truck or sport compact vehicle, they can be confident in knowing there’s a tremendous range of options for customization when they select a Ford vehicle.”
